Pipe Equipment Specialists Ltd (PESL), based in Teesside was recently acquired by the Indutrade AB. They will now become part of the ALH Systems group of companies – ALH Systems Ltd were also acquired by Indutrade in 2014.
PESL designs, manufactures, supplies and hires an extensive range of innovative and high quality equipment and accessories for the International pipe and cable laying industries, particularly in the trenchless technology sector. Steve Kent and his team celebrated 20 years of PESL last year, bringing vast knowledge and experience to ALH Systems Group, of which itself celebrates 40 years this year.
Andrew Cousins Managing Director of ALH Systems Group says, “Acquiring Pipe Equipment Specialist Ltd will significantly support our success and the growth of the group, whilst giving us a significant presence in the North of the UK. The depth of knowledge of the gas industry and experience within the group will help us to consolidate our expansion.”
The ALH Group can now offer Resins, flow stopping and repair of pipe systems, development of innovative designs of products and systems, with the addition of the PESL portfolio.
To assist with the integration of PESL into the ALH Group, Peter Scott one of the ALH Systems Business Development Managers, joined the board of Directors at PESL in March. Peter is no stranger to PESL or Managing Director Steve Kent, working within the industry with Steve for many years and more recently on the Northern Pipeline Industries Guild and NE&Y IGEM committees.

ALH Systems Limited, a leading OEM specialising in the development, design and manufacture of safe cost-effective repair and flowstopping systems to the gas industry, is pleased to announce the appointments of Peter Scott and Andy Vine as Business Development Managers.
Peter has worked in the pipeline industry for in excess of 30 years and is a leading expert in dead / live gas service & mains refurbishment and replacement techniques. He joins the business having been the founder and past managing director of Synthotech Ltd and more latterly working for Steve Vick International Ltd, where he was responsible for business development, whilst supporting the gas networks drive best practices.
Andy has worked in the utility sector, primarily gas, since 1990 where he started as a distribution apprentice for British Gas West Midlands. Having worked as a mainlayer and latterly a metering operative, he moved into the National Grid best practice team in 2005, driving best practice and safety. In 2008 he moved to WASK / Sperryn where he furthered his career and expertise working in the UK and overseas, not only in gas, but also the water industry.
ALH Systems Managing Director, Andrew Lucas says “These appointments come at a time of significant growth for the company and will help strengthen our core business, whilst driving innovative new products, by bringing their great depth of knowledge and experience within the utility industry and beyond”. Peter is an Incorporated Engineer and Fellow member of the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers. He is also a committee member of the Northern Branch of The Pipe Industries Guild and lives in Harrogate. Andy is also an Incorporated Engineer member of the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers, currently Chair of the NEEG Group at Energy and Utilities Association (EUA) and lives on the outskirts of Stratford upon Avon.
