Mainseal II Leadyarn and Mechanical

This sealing system allows for easy, quick and clean repairs of both Lead yarn and Mechanical Joints of all sizes. Mainseal II is available in two viscosities and can be injected through the socket or the lead joint face.

The cartridge fits the standard application gun used for Barseal and uses existing injection tooling; no additional equipment is required. It is not regarded as dangerous to the environment and, when cured, is biologically inert. The product conforms to GIS/LC12 specifications.

Two grades are available: Lead Yarn and Mechanical.

Mainseal II Yellow (Lead Yarn)

  • Supplied in side-by-side cartridges fitted with a static mixer nozzle
  • Low viscosity and low surface tension facilitate excellent wicking properties
  • Flexible end product that will accommodate joint movement
  • Bonds to cast iron and steel
  • Cures in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions
  • Complies with specification T/SP/LC/12

Mainseal II Blue (Mechanical)

  • Supplied in a side-by-side cartridge fitted with a static mixer nozzle
  • Will cure in both aerobic or anaerobic conditions
  • Flexible end product that will accommodate joint movement
  • Bonds to cast iron and steel
  • Complies with specification T/SP/LC/12

The product is supplied in a side-by-side cartridge fitted with a static mixer nozzle and is dispensed using a specially designed application gun. The initially mixed material’s low viscosity and surface tension give it excellent wicking properties. As this material relies on the reaction of the two mixed components to form a soft, flexible polymer, it is not dependent on the absence of oxygen to cure. It will work in either aerobic or anaerobic conditions.
